Minor Assignment One
This assignment is meant to get us familiar with the way we would use rhetoric in our personal fields. In class, we discussed how ethos, or credibility, is a key component of persuasion. By interviewing a profession or expert in our field, we can explore the characteristics and qualifications that make them have such a mastery in the topic. The six writings we are supposed to read, both academic and non-academic, will be another way to see how to address an audience that is relevant to our field. Another added bonus is that we can see how to cite sources correctly, as well as see the formatting of such a paper.
'This assignment reminds me of the synthesis essays I used to write back in high school for AP Language and Composition. I was fairly good at synthesis essays, because there was seven sources given, but you only had to use five. It was easy to find evidence within those provided sources to back my argument, but for this assignment, I have to find my own sources. This will provide a challenge, but I am happy that I have explored a similar tactic in the past. I am looking forward to improving my persuasive skills in the business field through this assignment
Questions: 1. Are there any sites you recommend to find credible academic papers?
2. What citation website do you recommend?
3. How does APA formatting compare to MLA formatting
