Research Topic

The question I am going to research is. "Does working out lower stress in college students?"
This is important because college is an extremely stressful time in life. Being away from home on top of doing a ton of classwork and extracurriculars can take a toll. Students are always looking for ways to reduce stress in a healthy way, so if exercise does, that would be a great option for a lot of people.

Two Questions

1. on a scale 1-5 how stressed out are you on a regular day?
2. How many days a week do you work out?

I will be making a survey either on twitter or on a google platform to distribute to people here at Iowa and at other colleges. This is a good way to randomly sample students of various lifestyles, and it will hopefully find a correlation between lower stress and exercise. I can also make quality graphs and/or charts showing this relationship, if there is one.

  1. You could also ask about how long they work out and then correlate stress levels to hours/week spent exercising. This would control for difference in workout length of different people.
