Having a place to work out is incredibly important. Exercise keeps people healthy both mentally and physically, and it helps to relieve stress. I just wrote a research paper proving that exercise reduces stress in college students, so this topic is fresh in my mind. Fitness East is a smaller workout facility near the main residence halls, open from 6am-7pm Monday through Friday. I live in Burge residence hall, which is too far away from the main recreation center to walk without extreme discomfort, specifically when it gets cold outside. Fitness East is more easily accessible to large number of East Side dorm students. In this speech, I will argue that Fitness East should be open on the weekends.
